Jonathan Fowler is a lawyer practicing in Mission, British Columbia, serving clients throughout Mission, Abbotsford, and the Fraser Valley.

He was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2008 and shortly thereafter moved to Newfoundland and Labrador, where he was called to the Bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2009. While practicing in Newfoundland and Labrador, Jonathan worked primarily in the areas of personal injury law, real estate, probate, wills and estates, and civil litigation.

Professional Background

Community Involvement

Jonathan believes strongly in supporting community organizations and youth sport throughout the Fraser Valley and has been actively involved in volunteer coaching, community organizations, and regional recreation initiatives.

Community involvement includes:

  • Vice President and volunteer coach with the Abbotsford Whalers Swim Club

  • Volunteer Assistant Coach with BC Summer Swimming, including coaching the Fraser Valley Regional Team at the BC Summer Provincial Championships

  • Volunteer minor hockey coach for over seven seasons, supporting youth hockey development in the region

  • Director of the Mission Association for Community Living (MACL), supporting services for individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Community advocate for improving recreation facilities in the Fraser Valley, including support for local aquatic and sport infrastructure initiatives

Jonathan’s involvement in community sport reflects his own background as a competitive swimmer and his commitment to supporting opportunities for young athletes and families throughout the region.

Before beginning his legal career, Jonathan also spent five seasons with the Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue Boat Program off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, including four seasons as Coxswain responsible for his own rescue vessel, crew, and station.

Outside of work, Jonathan continues to enjoy swimming, coaching, and playing recreational hockey with local adult hockey groups.

Personal Background

Jonathan has a long-standing background in competitive swimming, having competed at the national and international level. He was a semi-finalist at the 2000 Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials, finished in the top 10 at the 2000 World Cup of Swimming, and was a silver medalist at the 1999 Canadian University National Championships.

Jonathan remains actively involved in community sport and youth development. He serves as Vice President of the Abbotsford Whalers Swim Club, one of the Fraser Valley’s largest competitive swim programs, and volunteers his time coaching young athletes within the organization. He has also volunteered at the regional level, including serving as a coach for the Fraser Valley team at the BC Summer Swimming Provincial Championships.

In addition to swimming, Jonathan has volunteered as a minor hockey coach for more than seven years, helping develop young athletes in the Mission and Abbotsford communities. Outside of coaching, he continues to stay active in the community and enjoys playing recreational hockey with several local groups in the region.

While attending university and law school, Jonathan spent five seasons with the Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue Boat Program, serving for four summers as a Coxswain responsible for leading a rescue crew and operating a rescue vessel along the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
